I was invited as a Guest Speaker at the Second Clinical Ophthalmological Symposium held at Macau from 16th to 18th October, 1987 and also as a Visiting Professor of Ophthalmology of the Sun-Yat Sen University of Medical Sciences

During the period of my visit to China, I had an occasion to study the full details of "The Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology'. I thought if I give few details about this Journal of Ophthalmology it will be useful not only to our Editors, Contributors of articles but also to readers of our Indian Journal of Ophthalmology.

In order to promote the cooperation and communication to increase the understanding and friendship between Chinese and Indian Ophthalmologists, I would like to take this opportunity to make a brief introduction to the Journal of Ophthalmology.

Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology began publication in October 1950. It is one of the series of the Medical Journals published by the Chinese Medical Association and edited by the Editorial Board of Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology. They receive about one thousand and two hundred manuscripts every year, the rejection rate is approximately 70%, the publication rate is less than 20%. The circulation has always been over 23,000 and some times it reached its peals, 26,000.
