Any literature on Refractive Keratoplasty is bound to be received with enthusiasm by the anterior segment microsurgeon because it is a new and exciting field. The usefulness to the general ophthalmic surgeon is limited because these surgeries are not done as routine proce≠dures Their unpredictability and long term effect is yet to be evaluated in full.

In this small and informative book, 17 outstanding surgeons have contributed their views on topics like Radial Keratotomy, Epikeratophakia, Keratomileusis, Keratophakia, Alloplastic comeal lenses, Astigmatic corrections, Laser Surgery of the Cornea and medico legal refractive keratoplasty.

One should admit that as these surgeries are all their early informative stages and the result will also be variable and the opinions expressed maybe conflicting. The articles are written with good illustrative diagrams Good references have been given after each chapter. To those contemplating to start such surgeries, this is an excellent guide. To others is gives valuable information regarding the present modality of treatment and an assessment of the future developments to come.

It is an excellent volume to have in your library
