Ocular Syndromes : Walter J. Geeraets,

3rd Ed. 1976. Published by Lea and Fbiger, Philedelphia, pp. 655, Price U. S. $ 45.00

Seeing the book on my table, I could never imagine that it is the third edition of the same book as it looked quite bulky. However, after going through the book, I am convinced about the need and utility of bringing out the third edition. The total number of entries has been increased to 436 from 197 of the second edition. One may find some diseases listed in the book which do not come truly under the definition of the term syndrome but the author is right in commenting that this will proudly add rather than detract from the versatility of the book. A new index of symptoms and clinical signs has been added. The book will continue to serve its purpose of making the syndromes more easily recognisable and should prove useful not only to ophthalomlogists but also to the clinicians from other specialities. Additions have also been made to tables and bibliography. Tables of similar syndromes are very useful. It is a must as a referral book for any library.
