G.D. SINGHAL & K.R. SHARMA

The book on Ophthalmic and Otorhinological consideration is one of the 10 volumes' written by Dr. G.D. Singhal. This book, comprises of 26 chapters of which 19 are devoted to the eye. It is monumental work on ancient Indian Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology giving modern medical interpretation of the works of `Sushruta' 'Sushruta Samhita-Year 2500 B.C.) the great Aurvedic Physician and Father of Surgery.

The hook has been written in a style that it will interest professionals and scholars alike. The reader, even if he does not know Sanskrit, will be able to get the reference of his choice.

Each chapter starts with a four line gist followed by running summary in English. At the beginning of each verse the reference number and heading in English is given. Each verse is reproduced followed by the original text in Sanskrit and its authentic medical translation in English. The editors have tried to give their modern equivalents to the original Sanskrit notations. The end of each chapter gives a list of suggested research problems-historical, comparative, clinical, experimental, biochemical etc. This is a virgin field for research and this information will help the Scientists to boost research.
