On behalf of the newly elected Editorial Board., I would like to thank the members of the All India Ophthalmological Society for entrusting us with the responsibility of publishing the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology.

We have taken-up this responsibility with a sense of adventure, knowing fully well the un-surmountable problems the previous editors had in publishing the journal.

Let me express our appreciation and thanks to the previous Chief Editors Dr.Madan Mohan and Dr.S.K.Malik, the Managing Editor Dr.S.K.Angra and the members of the outgoing editorial board.

Being the official organ of the All India Ophthalmological Society this journal should reflect the activities of the society and should keep up with the progress made by the society in all other spheres. Keeping this in view, we have tried to change the entire outfit of the journal the contents and the style. We will strive hard to publish it with regularity.

Added between the scientific material, you might find some quotations and jokes, which I hope you will all appreciate. I have tried to incorporate some. ideas of the members of the editorial board. Any suggestions from members to make the journal more acceptable is welcome.

To me change is essentially the essence of progress. The words from the poem by Tennyson "The passing of Arthur" is worth quoting:
"The old order changeth Yielding place to new"

Let us hope it will be for the better.
