This book is a well-illustrated, exhaustive account of eye infections and its related topics. The index reveals an appropriate categorization of the infectious diseases according to the various parts and layers of the eye. Each disease is discussed under simple and structured subheadings with an adequate number of flow charts, tables and summary boxes. Most chapters start with relevant anatomical and physiological facts and end with a list of cited journal references, thus providing a comprehensive understanding of the entire topic. Apart from the infectious diseases of the eye, this book has some unique topics like "Prevention of Infections in Ophthalmic Surgery", "Systemic Infectious diseases and their Ocular manifestation" and "Preventive aspect of infectious disease of the Eye."
The pictures are of good resolution and compliment the text. The treatment of most conditions is elaborated with accurate dosages. Barring a few typographical errors, this book is an excellent exposition for a first edition on an uncommon, yet useful topic. This book is aimed at postgraduate students as well as practicing ophthalmologists and is a welcome addition to the limited collection of books on the same topic.
