Full Text

In order to prevent the adhesion of the cryo probe with cornea or iris during the operation of the cryo-extraction of lens, an instrument known by the name of Self-retaining iris retractor is devised.

The iris retractor is a very simple instrument made out of a steel wire. The front portion is bent into a round hook and the back portion is tapered and converted into a ring through which a silk thread hangs down by a ring [Figure 1].

This instrument is very simple. It is selfretaining and inexpensive. It can be easily applied and removed during the' operation of cryo-extraction of lens. It is light in weight and can be comfortably handled.
