Full Text

No. 15 Bard-Parker blade is used for making ab-externo corneo-sceral section for cataract extraction for dissecting scleral flaps in retinal detachment surgery and also glaucoma surgery[1]. At the moment it is used with No. 3 flat handle which is difficult to manoeuvre for curved incisions as done for cataract extraction and detachment operations.

A round handle [Figure 1] is devised to take No. 15 Bard-Parker blade so that it can be easily manoeuvred for giving curved incision. 180 incision for cataract extraction can be completed in one stroke by rolling the handle in between thumb and index finger.

Handle is made of stainless steel and is 12 centimeters in length and 0.5 centimeters in diameter. The handle can also take No. 11 Bard-Parker blade.

 SUMMARY

I have devised a round handle to take No. 15 Bard-Parker blade to make curved incisions easy for cataract glaucoma and retinal detachment surgery.

 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I am grateful to M/S Benco Agencies, Nampally Station Road, Hyderabad for making this handle for me.
