The book on real time ophthalmic ultra�sonography by S.N. Hassani in collaboration with R.L. Bard indeed provides a very lucid reading of the various aspects of real time scanning in relation to various ophthalmic pathological conditions.

Exact steps for delineating the lesions in the globe as well as the orbit are described in details and can be followed easily by any one who wants to initiate himself in the field of ophthalmic ultrasonography.

Authors have done well to leave out the detailed principles and calculations of physics which are of no relevance to a clinician.

Separate chapter highlighting the basis for obtaining echographic patterns from normal ocular tissues goes a long way in understand�ing the various pathological echoes described in subsequent sections.

Importance of ultrasonic history and con�ventional ophthalmic examination prior to echography has been rightly emphasised which will save one from quite a few pitfalls. Besides being profusely illustrated, the ultrasonogra�phic patterns of varied pathological lesions effecting vitreous, retina and choroid are excitingly clear in detail and provides a sea of information.

Authors have also been able to bring to surface the subtle differences in some of the conditions in which the echographic patterns almost mimic each other.

This book can be treasure house for any�body interested in the fast developing field of ocular ultrasonograpy.
