This is a new and comprehensive volume on the subject of ocular trauma. (A wealth of material has been assembled in one place), affording ready access to the current concept and management of ocular trauma, by acknowledged experts in the field. The book rightly reviews the historical perspective of ocular trauma in the opening chapter. The chapter on surgical cutting instruments also discusses the scientific principles that would help the ophthalmic surgeon in the judicious selection and application of instrument, for the repair of ocular trauma. In the following chapter Dr.Endre A Balazs (New York) gives an authoritative account of the various uses of viscoelastic materials for the reconstruction and repair of a traumatic eye. Another important chapter deals with the problem of post traumatic endophthalmitis. Emphasis has been laid on both prevention and treatment of post traumatic ocular infections employing medical and surgical methods. The special problems connected with secondary surgery in previously traumatised eyes are also dealt with elaborately. The use of appropriate contact lenses, tinted glasses and filters are all reviewed in a benefiting manner. This compact edition on ocular trauma thus provides useful informations to the practicing ophthalmologists.
